Black Capped Chickadee Nest
This nest with all the lovely moss in it belonged to black capped chickadees. They are one of my favorite little birds. They are so brave and so friendly. Usually they stay around here all year. If a bluebird house is near to a tree line, then chickadees may nest in the box. Who could begrudge these little guys a place to stay? Certainly not me!

I'm really impressed that you can tell all these nests apart! Chickadees are one of my favorite birds, also. I would have expected something smaller looking.
These nests were all removed from the bluebird boxes. That determined the size of the nest. Those little birds had to carry a lot of moss. The nest must be almost 3 inches thick.I'm sure some of them like a smaller place
