Welcome Spring Arrivals

Apple blossoms are beginning to open. I was pleased to see Rosy breasted grosbeaks at the bird feeder. A gorgeous orange and black Baltimore oriole and his flighty girlfriend dropped by as well. They are so beautiful, but I have mixed feelings. It is a vivid reminder to cage and bird net the lilies . Best of all even though it was raining, I saw a hummingbird on the Buffalo currant blossoms. We had a little sun in the afternoon. Blogger is back online. Thanks to everyone who made that happen. It was a great day!

I thought I had a memory glitch when a post went missing as well as the record of it! :-) ...... why cage the lillies? In March we had a baltimore oriole stay for 3 weeks preparing to journey your way. Strange to imagine it might be the same one. We are into summer here with temps in the 90's! We hope that we won't have triple digits again this year but have already broken some records. Enjoy the coolness for me! Katie Scott

Why cage the lilies? We've had trouble with orioles in the past. For pictures and the whole story go to "Circumstantial Evidence" posted July 29, 2008
