May Flowers Between Showers

The white shooting stars, have incredibly short stems. Perhaps the are waiting for the sun to grow taller.

The pink shooting stars seem to be loving the rain.

My 'Jack Frost' Brunnera has beautiful little blue flowers, and such lovely leaves

Ed got a perfect shot of this bleeding heart. The weeds have not been pulled, but at least they are out of focus.

Between the attractive leaves and the lacy flowers this 'Sugar and Spice' Tiarella is a delight.

The Kathy Purdy's Narcissus are fragrant and attractive. Again the weeds are out of focus.

There are years when we think we have the upper hand in the garden. Things get planted on time. Weeds get pulled . For the most part the garden bends to our wishes. This is not one of those years. Mother Nature is in control and we are painfully aware of it. Everything is growing in response to the daily rain, especially the weeds and the lawn. We did get a little sun today. You'll have to excuse me now, I have wet garden clothes to launder.

A Beautiful Day for a Walk, Photos by Amy

Last evening's gold is gone, but what terrific shades of spring green remain!




If anything the meadow and the forest in the back are an even deeper green.




Flowering dwarf ginseng caught Amy's camera lens. It's nice to see it again this year.




Incredibly interesting things grow on the top of a stone wall after it has been in place for a long time. I don't know exactly what they are, but they make a fascinating photograph.



Bleeding heart flowers present interesting shapes in a gorgeous pink.





This closeup of a white Trillium with water droplets, shadows and pollen is my absolute favorite.




Back at the shade garden we get to see Jack's back. Having just emerged the leaf is still curled tight. Perhaps tomorrow is will make Jack's pulpit.

After a nice long walk , a cool drink and a little time on the garden bench is welcome.

A Different Point Of View

When visitors come here, walks in the garden are common. Amy and I took such a walk, and I gave her the camera. These are her photographs. A lovely bleeding heart flower is a nice place to start.




This bubble-like spider web was in the berry bushes just alongside the path. It was bustling with activity and a type of web that I've never seen before. We found it fascinating!




My mother's iris are lovely. It's nice to capture their fleeting beauty with the camera.




Snow in summer is a favorite flower of Amy's. It's white flowers and gray foliage are cooling in the summer. I wish we needed that cool feeling. Freeze /frost warnings are in the forecast for tonight. The last one gave us a bad feeling and I have been watching for this. We have been procrastinating and not replanting. Sometimes procrastination pays off! Today we hope the beans will stay underground. Ed will go out and cover the potatoes that are coming up with dirt. Plants will be chosen to be covered, but some things will just have to take it like it comes. If the warnings are accurate, tomorrow morning will bring frost in June. I suppose they might be wrong. If not, there's still hope for frost-free July and August.
